Last week we got the opportunity to explore materials with art at the Royal Academy of Arts. We got to look around the gallary and explore famous pieces of art and discuss our thoughts as a group. We even saw the famour 'last supper' portrait which was replicated for the students. We remembered learning about this in our year 1 RE lessons. We then got the chance to use water colours to create our own under the sea creature! We had lots of fun!
We've been learning about Anglo-Saxons and how hard it was to invade Britain. We learnt that there were three main tribes the Jutes, Angles and the Saxons. To finish our unit we created our own Anglo-Saxon brooches inspired by anglo-saxon shield designs. We really enjoyed showing these off to the school!
Year 4 have been using interactive tools to create simple and complex tessellations. We have been creating repeating patterns and thinking how we can make them more complex.
For Art week, Year 4 focused on Corey Barksdale. He was an American artist and muralist. He was known for his brightly coloured murals and paintings. Over the week we looked at his famous works and reflected on his art. We then got to re-create 2 of his famous pieces of work. We really enjoyed using different combinations like oil pastels and paint to make our art POP!
