Attendance and Punctuality

Attendance and Punctuality

A high standard of attendance and punctuality is expected at our school
  • Our attendance lead at St Alban's school is Jayne Andrews (Head of School). You can contact her at admin@stalbans.camden.sch.uk
  • Children come straight into school from 8.45 and go directly to their classrooms.
  • The register is taken promptly at 9.00.

Is my child too ill for school?

We understand it can be difficult to decide whether to send your child to school when they’re feeling unwell. To help, we have linked the latest UK government and NHS guidance on common childhood illnesses and when your child should stay home.

What happens if my child is not able to attend school because of illness/holidays?

If your child is absent from school, please telephone the school office to explain the reason for the absence. Where the school does not receive notification, the office will call home to ask why the child is not in school. If no information is provided then the absence is recorded as unauthorised. The amount of absence for each child is recorded on the annual report in the summer term.

The school's Camden School Inclusion Support Officer (SISO) monitors the school's attendance and works in partnership with the school.

No holidays will be authorised during term time. Holidays are to be taken out of school term time. All unauthorised holidays or prolonged absence will be referred to the Attendance and Children Out of School (ACOS) and parents will be subject to a fine.

Authorisation will only ever be given for leave during term time in exceptional circumstances. Parents must apply in writing to Head of School with their request.  If leave is authorised and parents do not return on the date given, you must understand that your child may lose their place and be taken off the school roll.

Attendance Policy

Our attendance policy is linked explicitly to the DFE document Working Together.

Working together to improve school attendance (applies from 19 August 2024)

We use this motto to remind us to be in school because we know that the more we are in school, the more we can succeed!

Meet our Attendance bear and Early bird!

At St Alban's we celebrate our good attendance and punctuality!
